Charity Shop Sales Going Electric

Bargain hunters will soon be able to snap-up electrical goods at a charity shop after staff decided to expand its sales collection.

The Cancer Research UK shop in Merrial Street, Newcastle, is now appealing for people to donate unwanted items such as hairdryers, lamps, curling tongs, games consoles, CD and DVD players, kettles and cameras.

Staff and volunteers already sell a range of clothing and homeware, but they hope the new range of goods will tempt more customers to drop in.

The shop now has proper PAT testing equipment, so small electrical appliances can be checked before they are sold on.

Shop manager Averil Hewitt said: "You may never use that blender or foot spa that you have in the back of your cupboard, but they could well come in handy for someone else.

"It's great to know that every item sold here means more money towards vital cancer research."
